Survey Savvy Panel Member Review

SurveySavvy is an online market research company that is an affiliate of parent company, Luth Research, LLC. and has been around since 1999. SurveySavvy pays its panel members either through cash or rewards in exchange for their participation in online surveys. It is free to join, you simply visit the website  and click on the 'Join Now' link in the middle of the home page, fill out a few questions and you have an account with the company. After you complete some additional questions about yourself through the member profile, SurveySavvy will be able to determine the quality and quantity of questionnaires you would be qualified to answer. Panel members receive survey invitations through their personal email and most of the surveys average anywhere from $1 to $10 in pay. The catch is, is that you have to be "qualified" in order to receive monetary compensation but in the event you are not you can still be "rewarded" for a monthly sweepstakes drawing. Which brings me to another downside of working with SurveySavvy; the inconsistency of survey invitations. On average, I received about four (4) to five (5) surveys a week and of those, let's say five, I would only qualify (for payment) for about two of them. Additionally, the surveys were not short surveys. I can recall spending at least five to ten minutes on one survey that paid only $1 and I have yet to win a prize in their monthly drawing. In total, since I started back in 2008, I have about $6 in my account still and just saw no need to request a check for such a paltry sum.

If you are lucky to receive paying surveys, the minimum amount for payout is $1, which is to say, there is no minimum payout amount. That is a good thing, however, the downside to payout structure is it can take the company between four (4) and six (6) weeks to issue your check (yes, there preferred payment method is with a check, so make sure you use your correct address, when you join). I have heard from other panel members that it can take much longer to receive a check but I cannot not speak to the accuracy of those statements with that because I have never requested one. However, again the company does stipulate that that it can take up to six weeks to receive compensation.

There is also a referral program in place that pays you for each friend or family member that you refer to the site and an additional monetary amount ($2 or so) for each survey that they complete. This is where it seems you can make a good deal of money, through the referral system; however, again I cannot speak to this fully because I just could not imagine referring any of my friends to SurveySavvy.

I have only had to contact customer service once and once was enough. They are really not competent at all. I simply asked how was this income being reported (for tax purposes) and they were completely clueless. Suffice to say, I did not see the point in contacting them again.

All in all, if you are looking to SurveySavvy as a way to make part-time income, I would not recommend it. While some of the surveys are interesting, they are very long, and on average you do not even receive many survey invitations. If you simply like filling out surveys then have a go at it; for you the money would just be an added bonus. To join Survey Savvy click here.
